France Football has confirmed that the Ballon d’Or 2023 nominations will be announced on September 6th.
The 67th edition of football prestigious award ceremony will take place on Monday 16 October and some of football biggest superstars will likely to compete for Ballon D’or 2023. The list of 30 players who will compete for the prize will be published on September 6th.

Former PSG winger and Argentinian hero Lionel Messi is the favorite for the award. The 35-year-old won the 2022 FIFA World Cup with La Abiceleste and the Ligue 1 title with PSG.

In eight World Cup appearances, he scored seven goals and provided three assists, earning his second Golden Ball. He also scored 21 goals and 20 assists in 41 games for Paris St. Germain this season. Recently, Leo Messi join MLS side Inter Miami CF. If Messi win this time, he will be first active player in MLS who win Ballon D’or.
Manchester City striker Erling Haaland is also expected to be in the fight. The 22-year-old Norwegian has scored 52 goals in all competitions.

Haaland played a key role in City’s Premier League and FA Cup victories. His teammate Kevin de Bruyne was also impressive, scoring 10 goals and providing 31 assists in 48 games.
Other names in the running for the Ballon d’or 2023 also include:
Real Madrid’s Vinicius Junior (23 goals and 21 assists in 55 appearances), PSG’s Kylian Mbappe (41 goals in 43 appearance) and Napoli’s Victor Osimhen (31 goals at 39 appearance).
Karim Benzema is the reigning Ballon D’or winner and Messi now holds the record with seven wins but didn’t receive a nomination last year.
