The Best FIFA Football Awards 2021 All Winners

The final installment of the football awards season took place at FIFA headquarters in Zurich on Monday with FIFA’s The Best awards. The event kicked off with a special recognition for Canadian star and the world’s all-time leading international goal scorer, Christine Sinclair, who won the FIFA Lifetime Achievement Award. It ended with a special award for Cristiano Ronaldo for setting the all-time scoring record in men’s international football.

Robert Lewandowski – Best Player of the Year 2021

The Best FIFA Men’s Player 2020 scored 41 league goals – a record for a Bundesliga season – as his club won the title again, adding to a FIFA Club World Cup win. He was also prolific for Poland, scoring three goals in three matches at UEFA EURO 2020.

Alexia Putellas – Best Women Player of the Year 2021

Spain midfielder Putellas, 27, now holds both of the highest individual awards in world football, having won the Ballon d’Or in November. She helped Barcelona win a domestic double as well as their first ever Women’s Champions League last season.

Thomas Tuchel – FIFA Best Coach of The Year 2021

Won the UEFA Champions League, beating domestic champions Manchester City in the 2020-21 final. He also took the club to the FA Cup final and fourth in the league, ensuring Champions League qualification had they not secured an automatic berth as holders.

Emma Hayes – Best Women Coach of The Year 2021

Hayes won three domestic trophies and for the first time in the club’s history reached the Women’s Champions League final. Hayes held off competition from Lluis Cortes and Sarina Wiegman to win the prestigious award.

Édouard Mendy – FIFA Best Goalkeeper of The Year 2021

Became the first African goalkeeper to appear in a European Cup final since 1985 when he started for Chelsea in the UEFA Champions League 2020-21 showpiece in Porto, pocketing a winner’s medal after the success against Manchester City.

Christiane Endler – FIFA Best Women Goalkeeper of The Year 2021

The Chile captain was named the outstanding keeper in Division 1 Féminine last season, conceding just four goals en route to ending Lyon’s 14-year run of championships as PSG won a first top-flight title.

Puskas Award – Best Goal of The Year 2021

The Best FIFA Fan Award

As the UEFA EURO 2020 crowd waited for news on Christian Eriksen’s health, fans from both teams banded together in an emotional tribute. Finnish fans chanted “Christian!” and Danish supporters responded with “Eriksen”.

Cristiano Ronaldo – FIFA Best Special Award

Cristiano Ronaldo has been honoured by FIFA for becoming the all-time leading goalscorer at international level. The Manchester United legend has now scored 115 goals for Portugal, breaking Ali Daei’s previous record of 109.

Christine Sinclair – FIFA Best Special Award

Honored by FIFA during a gala in Zurich, Sinclair was recognized before the soccer world for the pedestal she’s claimed – one that stands next to Cristiano Ronaldo’s, the men’s game’s top scorer, yet slightly above for her total. Sinclair now has 188 goals. Ronaldo has 115.
